Listed Indian Multinational company headquartered in Mumbaifocused on IT solutions, Business Intelligence and BigData Analytics, Geospatial and Engineering.

Challenge

The company did not enjoy a strong Employer brand to attract best talent from the IT hubs of India i.e. Bangalore and Hyderabad to Mumbai. The Company was keen to have its leaders based at Mumbai only. The Company strongly believed that the candidate needs to relocate with family in order to have a long tenure with the company. Also the recruitment process involved getting senior outstation candidates fly to Mumbai, meet different stakeholders and having the final offer on the same day which was required to be accepted on the spot.

Solution

The solution started with we working with the client to get the right story to be communicated to the candidates about the growth envisaged and transformation taking place.Then it boiled down to sitting down and explaining each candidate what was in store for him/ her. Given that the decision making and offer happenend on the same day, we have to reengineer our processes to cover all aspects that go into offer finalization from expectation setting to family discussions to salary expectations/ negotiations to be covered satisfactorily before the candidate stepped foot in client premises so as to avoid any surprises. In many cases, we even spent a lot of time helping candidates get a flavor of living in Mumbai right from kid schooling to quality of housing, etc. The conversations extended to family members mostly wives to give them comfort over impending relocation and helping address anxieties.

The candidates placed stuck to the client company thereby strengthening its employer brand. We facilitated over 28 senior executives including 4 Presidents, who propelled the organization to reach around $1billion in revenues, quadrupling it in about 7 years.

One of India’s leading financial services firm offering Wealth Management, Investment Banking, Corporate Finance & Advisory and Equity Brokerage & Distribution services. The Client was looking to get into the fintech space with focus on wealth management.

Challenge

Recruit a CEO to help client start a new digital business

Solution

One of our candidates was an entrepreneur who had raised seed capital but was finding it difficult to raise subsequent rounds. Our client found the candidate fit for the CEO role and on our suggestion decided to also look at the candidate’s company for a potential takeover. Once the client was convinced post its due diligence that the acquisition made sense, the entire mandate changed to an investment banking one. We were involved at every stage post that including deciding swap ratios for investors in candidate’s company to finalising the term sheet and shareholder’s agreement.

Impact

The Client ended up taking over a running and profitable fintech company which fast tracked the client by a year and the transaction becoming India’s first M&A deal executed by an Executive Search Firm.

Challenge

Client was keen on building an Oracle consulting practice. Given the timing of the market opportunity, they wanted to do a team lift or acquihire and not build it organizally.

Solution

We started with brain storming on potential companies and teams which could be targets. We finalised our preferences and the team at Company Z topped the list. The top management of the team at Company Z had been at the company for over 18 years. It started us with us seeding the thought of a potential move outside of Company Z in the mind of the Leader of the team. This itself took us a couple of months. However even after a couple of meeting between our client and the leader of the team over next 2 months, we were not making swift progress. At this stage, it came down to taking a crucial call; talking to the deputies of the leader ( we knew the team structure by now) which may jeopardise the deal if deputies are completely aligned with the leader or looking at other options. We decided with the client to take the first option. To our surprise, not only were the deputies aware about our talks with the leader but also were very keen to do the movement. Post that started a series of meeting between client and deputies. Then client further met other key people in the team and eventually after 8 months of starting the mandate, a team of over 60 people at Company Z moved to the Client.
